Municipal scholarship program of the Mayor of Lublin

Academic scholarship Mayor of Lublin is aimed at students I or II degree and doctoral student,  full-time studies, who in the last two academic years before applying for the scholarship conducted scientific or artistic activity which might contribute to the development of Lublin and the region or make a significant contribution to the development of science.

The scholarship may be awarded to one person:

  • once in the course of higher education (first or second degree, or uniform Master's studies);
  • once during the doctoral studies

Applications for scholarships for the academic year 2016/2017 will be accepted within:

Scholarship of the “Polish Community” Association for Polish origin students
 
These  scholarships are funded by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the framework of the contest “Cooperation with Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad” and the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski scholarship fund. Scholarships are available to students of Polish origins studying at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs.
 Scholarships may be awarded to students who have not been granted scholarships from other financial sources. Scholarships may be awarded for one semester with a possibility of extending it depending on academic achievement.

Scholarship Program “Fellowship Research & Experience”
Josef Mianowski Foundation announces an open call for the scholarship program “Fellowship Research & Experience”. The scholarship program is dedicated to the people from the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.

The program supports research initiatives aimed at sharing polish experience in implementing system changes, market economy, the rule of law and civil society. Visegrad Scholarship Program

Visegrad Scholarship Program (VSP) is a program created by the International Visegrad Fund to facilitate student exchange by providing students and academics who are nationals of the V4 countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), as well as nationals of the V4 neighboring  countries, with financial support.
Visegrad scholarships are awarded for 5 months (1 semester) or 10 months (2 semester) for Master’s, Doctoral and Postgraduate studies as well as scientific research. It is possible to prolong the stay.   
Scholarship schemes:
 

  • Intra-Visegrad scholarships: for outstanding students and scholars within the V4 countries,
  • In-Coming scholarships: for outstanding students and scholars from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine who wish to study in the V4 member countries.

CEEPUS Central European Exchange Program for University Studies

The Program aims at promoting and supporting academic exchange programs within the scope of professional education and improvement of both students and academics. It enables intensification of contacts between higher education institutions of the Member Countries (Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Romania,  Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova and Kosovo - Prishtina University).      
 
CEEPUS scholarships are awarded to students for studies/internships as well as vocational trainings in the above mentioned countries whereas academic teachers are awarded scholarships for the activities strengthening the Central European character of university curricula.
Scholarships for students are awarded for 10 months in one academic year (subject to minimum 3 month stay).

The Stefan Banach Scholarship

The scholarship is available to nationals of Eastern Partnership member states (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) who:

  • graduated from first degree studies (not later than 3 years ago),
  •  in the academic year 2014/15 are studying in the final year of first degree studies,
  • in the academic year 2014/15 are studying in the next to last year of master degree studies or equivalent studies in the field of science, environment, technology, economics as well as European studies/European law and speak Polish language at the level sufficient to undertake studies in Poland if the system of higher education in the member state does not provide education in the form of first degree studies.

The scholarships will be offered for two year supplementary second degree studies in the field of science, environment, technology, economics as well as European studies/European law carried out at Polish state universities. After the first year, scholarship holders will be able to take part in student exchange within the frames of the Erasmus Program provided the university concluded appropriate agreements with foreign universities.
 
During the studies, scholarship holders will be able to undertake a short-term vocational internship in Poland as well as participate in a summer Polish language course immediately before the beginning of studies.
 
The monthly allowance of the scholarship amounts to 1350 PLN net. Moreover, the organizers pay the cost of the language course and the cost of events organized for the scholarship holders.

Polish Government Scholarships

The government of Poland awards scholarships to students and trainees on the basis of bilateral agreements. All academic and tuition fees are waived for the recipients. The bilateral agreements stipulate the number of such scholarships, which are awarded for each year of study individually but for no longer than the length of the program as determined by the university’s senate. Funded by the Ministry of National Education and administered by the Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange, scholarships can be awarded for periods shorter than one academic year.

John Paul II Foundation Scholarships

Scholarships are available to individuals enrolled in:

Krzysztof Skubiszewski Scholarship

The scholarship holder will be given the opportunity to conduct academic research in Poland during the 2017/2018 academic year in collaboration with the University of Warsaw or with another Polish university, in the field of law, political science or contemporary history. The goal of the scholarship is to promote democracy, human rights, the rule of law, and the respect of law in international relations.
The scholarship is open to candidates who hold a master's degree or equivalent, and have successfully defended their doctoral thesis (or have other significant academic achievements) or have accomplished works of significant importance in the public interest, especially in the area of promoting democracy and the rule of law.
The research grant is intended to finance a three-month or shorter visit to Poland, that will have the same purpose and will be organized in the same way as the research work in Poland financed by the scholarship.

Candidate selection criteria
Applications are welcomed from candidates from any of the countries listed in the title of the present announcement, except Poland. The scholarship and the research grant are open to candidates who hold a master's degree or equivalent, and:

  • have successfully defended their doctoral thesis (or have significant academic achievements)or
  • have accomplished works of significant importance in the public interest, especially in the area of promoting democracy and the rule of law.

Preference will be given to candidates who are under forty years of age.
Proficiency in foreign languages, particularly English, will be an important selection criterion.
Proficiency in Polish is desired. If the scholarship holder has no sufficient knowledge of Polish, he/she will undergo an intensive Polish language course in the period immediately before the beginning of the academic year (in August and in September). If the grantee needs a Polish language course, the Foundation will organize the course during his/her academic visit to Poland.

Detailed conditions of the scholarship. The scholarship holder will receive:

  • a total of 28 940 Polish złoty (PLN), payable in monthly instalments, in the case of an 9-month stay in Poland; if the stay lasts for less than 9 months, the amount paid will be proportionally reduced (the scholarship holder will have to pay revenue tax on this money, either in his country of permanent residence or in Poland);
  • free-of-charge accommodation in Warsaw or accommodation expenses during his/her stay in Poland;
  • travel costs for one trip from the place of permanent residence to Warsaw and back; and
  • reimbursement of the cost of insurance covering emergency medical treatment in Poland.

The Foundation will allocate 3212 PLN for the purchase of books or other material useful to the sholarship holder's research. If the scholarship holder needs an intensive course of Polish, then the Foundation will bear the cost of the course and of board and lodging for the 1- or 2-month duration of the course. The Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw (Studium Europy Wschodniej Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego) will be responsible for coordinating and organizing the stay in Poland of the scholarship holder. The Foundation may cease to deliver the money and services promised if the scholarship holder:

  • fails to complete the intensive course of the Polish language with satisfactory results (except if such a course is not judged necessary by the Foundation);
  • fails to work towards the objectives, for the accomplishment of which the scholarship was granted, in particular, fails to conduct academic research in Poland;
  • fails to purchase insurance covering emergency medical treatment in Poland; or
  • is in gross breach of the principles of academic integrity or of social norms.

Semper Polonia Scholarships

The Semper Polonia Foundation scholarships are available to candidates with Polish roots studying at universities in their own countries. The scholarship program aims to

  • support the educational and professional activity of Poles and individuals with Polish roots living abroad;
  • use the experience of young graduates with Polish roots to promote Polish economic and cultural achievements and to develop contacts between Poland and their states of residence;

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program is funded by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation and administered by the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. Its main objective is to share Polish experiences in economic, social and political transformations within the framework of a two-semester extended study program (for holders of Master’s degree) in Polish institutions of higher education and two- to four-week professional internships in governmental and private institutions.

Scholarships included 1,750 PLN (for 9 months), education-related costs, accommodation in Poland, a return ticket, and academic materials. Computers leased to students become their property after the completion of the program.

Recruitment:

The recruitment process is announced in January with the application deadline in March. Approximately 50 of the best candidates are selected by an independent committee. The recruitment process has three phases and includes formal and substantive evaluation of proposals and interviews with:

  • academic teachers
  • experts, politicians, government employees
  • managers
  • NGO leaders, animators of cultural and civic activity
  • journalists

Scholarship for Eastern Studies

In spring 2001, the Centre for East European Studies opened a competition for 25 scholarships to enter the 2-year Master’s Program in Specialist Eastern Studies at the University of Warsaw for candidates from the former Soviet Union and post-communist countries. The competition and the opportunity to study the subject in Poland were received with great interest in target countries. Opening such possibility is considered both a proof and an example of Poland’s involvement in shaping the future of the region. Over 250 candidates from 22 countries have applied for the scholarship in the previous editions of the competition. The arduous enrolment procedure (3 stages: application, written test, interview) led to admitting, between 2001 and 2008, almost 190 individuals to the scholarship programme. They came from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
The state-funded East European Studies Scholarships were established with the intention not only to create a group of well-trained experts on Eastern affairs at home, but also to provide educational opportunities for young specialists from other, especially neighbouring countries, thus offering a rare chance for Poles and their foreign fellow students to study, here in Warsaw, the past, the present and the future of our region together.

Candidates for the Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • maximum 30 years of age
  • graduate MA studies in humanities in their home country (MA or Specialist diploma)
  • good general orientaition in issues connected with Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia, especially XIX-XX cc. and present problems of the region, after 1991
  • knolwedge of Polish and English enabling understanding of lectures and reading academic literature.

Studies program encompasses history and present problems in East-Central Europe, Russia, and the whole post-Communistic area. It focuses on history, national and confessional topics and political issues but also includes elements of the history of art, literature, culture, sociology, geography, demography, law, economics and others. Program also involves the coirse of one regional language.
Studies are divided into 6 specialities:
a) Eastern Europe,
b) Russia,
c) Caucasus,
d) Central Asia,
e) Central Europe,
f) Balkans.
